Why Allah Sent You: Rediscovering the Forgotten Purpose of a Muslim

We Are Living Through a Crisis of Purpose

Modern life is loud. Distracting. Fast. It pulls you in a hundred directions at once — deadlines, notifications, trends, expectations. And somewhere in that noise, something sacred slips away: the awareness of why Allah sent you into this world.

Not why you were born. Why you were sent.

There’s a difference. Birth is biological. Being sent is intentional.

And every Muslim needs to confront this truth: Allah placed you here with purpose, mission, and meaning.

But most of us forget.

The Spiritual Danger of Forgetting

Forgetfulness is not a small slip — it’s a spiritual hazard. When you forget your purpose, you start living reactively. You drift. You chase comfort. You drown in routine. You lose the sharpness of identity that Islam gives you.

You feel:

  • spiritually numb,
  • mentally scattered,
  • emotionally heavy,
  • disconnected from Allah.

Not because you don’t believe — but because you’ve forgotten the why behind your existence.

And when purpose fades, life becomes heavier than it needs to be.

Allah Sent You With Honour

Here’s the truth that should shake you awake:

Allah chose you to represent His deen on earth.

He could have chosen anyone. But He chose you.

That alone should change how you walk, how you speak, how you think, how you live. You are not here to merely survive, earn, consume, and repeat. You are here to:

  • Know Allah deeply
  • Worship Him sincerely
  • Serve His message through your character
  • Live with ihsān — excellence, beauty, integrity
  • Be a witness of truth in a world drowning in confusion

This is not a burden. It’s an honour.

A privilege. A calling.

Worship Is Bigger Than Rituals

One of the greatest misunderstandings today is reducing worship to rituals. Yes, salah, Qur’an, and dhikr are foundational — but worship is also:

  • how you treat people,
  • how you carry yourself,
  • how you speak,
  • how you work,
  • how you respond to hardship,
  • how you show up when no one is watching.

Every act done with sincerity becomes part of your mission.

Every moment becomes meaningful.

Every step becomes worship.

Purpose Makes Life Lighter

When you remember why Allah sent you, something powerful happens:

  • Hardship becomes easier to bear.
  • Stress becomes smaller.
  • Decisions become clearer.
  • Temptations lose their shine.
  • Life feels less random and more intentional.

Purpose is not just a spiritual concept — it’s a psychological anchor. It stabilises you. It strengthens you. It gives your heart direction.

A Call to Wake Up

So pause. Breathe. Reconnect.

Strip away the noise and return to the truth: You were sent.

Sent with meaning. Sent with mission. Sent with honour.

Let your days reflect that. Let your choices reflect that. Let your heart wake up to the reality that you are here for something far greater than comfort or routine.

This life is your chance. Your opportunity. Your assignment.

Don’t waste it.

My name is Foyjul Islam. I am a journalist and writer based in London, UK, and a practicing Muslim with a deep passion for thoughtful living, faith, and personal growth. I am currently studying in the ʿĀlimiyyah program and pursuing Hifz, which allows me to deepen my understanding of the Islamic tradition and strengthen my connection to the Qur’an. I love travelling, learning, and meeting people from different walks of life. These experiences have shaped how I see the world and taught me to be my own teacher in life. I believe that every journey, conversation, and challenge carries a lesson, and I try to approach each day with curiosity and gratitude. Outside of work and studies, I enjoy spending time with my family, which keeps me grounded and reminds me of what truly matters. I’m into sports, which helps me stay healthy and active, and I’m a bit of a foodie who enjoys discovering new places to eat. I also have a long-standing interest in cars. My faith is at the heart of who I am. It guides my values, my writing, and the way I interact with others. Through my journey of faith, family, writing, ʿĀlimiyyah studies, and Hifz, I hope to offer benefit, inspiration, and reflection to others, and to contribute in a small way to meaningful, faith-rooted conversations in our time.
